Despacito is a hit song from Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi with Daddy Yankee was released in 2017. It was the top one streamed music at that period within the space of six months. In 2017, the single Despacito which was a mix of reggaeton with pop music, not only brought new attention to reggaeton music but also sparked interest in Latin music. Billboard's Top 100 had four songs predominantly in Spanish in 2016, compared to just two songs in 2015. At the peak of Despacito's chart-topping success in 2017, 19 songs mainly composed in Spanish reached into the Top 100. It climbed to 41 by 2020. Following Justin Bieber's bilingual remix to Despacito (2017) popular artists soon began collaborating with reggaeton performers including Drake along with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) and Madonna with Maluma on Medellin (2019). The mainstreaming of reggaeton was a concern for some performers during the year the year 2020. Rauw alejandro and a young generation, however, wanted to preserve the style. He often incorporated elements from electronic dance music and other genres.
